Part-Time Archery Instructor Trainer Job Description
Girl Scouts of Suffolk County is seeking troop leaders, volunteers, alumnae, or parents/caregivers who have a love of the outdoors to join our talented and passionate team of facilitators as archery instructors. Candidates will be trained by our Level 2, USA Archery certified instructor from Council and coached through the first few teaching sessions.
Archery instructors are needed for our troop camping season to facilitate 60-minute beginner archery lessons for girls ages 9-16 at Camp Edey in Bayport, NY. Our archery range can accommodate 5-10 girls at the shooting line per session.
Instructors may sign up to teach one or more sessions on various available weekend dates during our fall and spring camping season.
Role responsibilities include:
- Instruct girls in proper shooting, safety skills, and sportsmanship.
- Prepare the archery range before class and dismantle it after class.
- Maintain the archery tackle, bows, arrows, targets, etc., keeping the equipment and target area neat and organized.
Eligibility Requirements
- Excellent public speaking and communication skills with the ability to relate to girls and troop leaders.
- Attention to detail, safety, and comfort in managing and handling archery equipment.
- Prior experience teaching or leading girls in a group setting.
- Ability to teach physical steps of managing equipment to minors in an outdoor environment.
- Must currently have or obtain certification for CPR/AED/First Aid.
- Must currently have or obtain adult membership and complete a background check.
